Republicans in the Senate blocked four gun control measures today, just one week after the deadliest shooting in U.S. history and Senator Chris Murphy said he wasn't surprised, acknowledging that “the NRA has a vice=like grip on this place.”
One pair of measures was on background checks, the others blocking individuals tied to terror watch lists.
The votes came after a 15-hour filibuster which ended last Thursday with Republicans agreeing to votes on the measures.
