Last night, the Empire State Building put on its first show with its new LED lighting system. It was coordinated with a live performance by Alicia Keys of “Girl on Fire” and “Empire State of Mind" which was simulcast on Clear Channel radio stations across the city such as Z100, 103.5 KTU and 106.7 Lite FM beginning at 9 pm.
Mashable writes:
The new system has lighting capabilities from more than 16 million colors, along with effects such as ripples, cross-fades, sparkles, chasers, sweeps, strobes and bursts. The LED system also allows for more control and lighting management.
The Empire State Building previously used its new LED Lights on Election Night, allowing New Yorkers to see incoming state and electoral vote results. The mast was highlighted in blue and red to show the two sides that represent President Obama and Gov. Romney's electoral vote totals, while data from CNN was displayed on its LED-illuminated “meter,” which will be positioned at the spire of the building.
