So far the 2019 Academy Awards are proving queer friendly with Regina King winning best supporting actress for gay, Black writer James Baldwin's If Beale Street Could Talk and now, Mahershala Ali, of last years' Moonlight, winning for playing musician Don Shirley in Green Book.
Ali last was in the Black, queer meditation on love Moonlight.
