Anti-gay Presidential hopeful Senator Marco Rubio has claimed that same-sex marriage would represent a “a real and present danger” to Christianity, reports The New Civil Rights Movement.
Speaking with David Brody on the Christian Broadcasting Network, Rubio – who thinks the idea of same-sex marriage is “absurd” – said:
"We are at the water's edge of the argument that mainstream Christian teaching is hate speech. Today we've reached the point in our society where if you do not support same-sex marriage you are labeled a homophobe and a bigot. So what's the next step after that, after they've done going after individuals?
"The next step to argue is that the teachings of mainstream Christianity, the catechism of the Catholic Church, is hate speech. That's a real and present danger."
Earlier this month, Rubio held a fundraiser for the Center for Arizona Policy, which is widely known for its support of conversion therapy.
