Sia released the first track off her forthcoming album This is Acting today, and it's a powerhouse anthem about overcoming adversity.
The track was co-written by Adele, for Adele's next album, but it didn't make the album at the last minute so Sia recorded it herself:
“It's about [Adele's] life, so I now sing a song from [Adele's] perspective,” Sia says.
Sia is calling her new album This is Acting because:
“I'm calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn't go into it thinking, ‘This is something I would say.' It's more like play-acting. It's fun.”
Belts Sia:
“I was born in a thunderstorm / I grew up overnight / I played alone / I played on my own / I survived / Hey / I wanted everything I never had / Like the love that comes with life / I wore envy and I hated it / But I survived / I had a one-way ticket to a place where all the demons go / Where the wind don't change / And nothing in the ground can ever grow / No hope, just lies / And you're taught to cry in your pillow / But I survived…”
