Representative Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) is determined to perpetuate the lie that gay marriage destroys pretty much everything it touches – children, the economy, society as a whole – despite an utter lack of evidence to support his claims and a fair amount of research to counter them. Thursday on the Family Research Council's Washington Watch program, Huelskamp called for Congress to vote – again – on his Marriage Protection Amendment that would impose a national ban on same-sex marriages, evidently completely undeterred by being smacked down a few years ago.
Huelskamp hides behind the usual suspects: the children, who would suffer in some unspecific, unquantifiable way; and the founding fathers, who "never envisioned a society which would reject a basic understanding of nature."
